The site visit to the ALS laboratory in Malaga will include a tour of the analytical facility and processes. A presentation on the pros and
cons of analytical techniques at each stage of the gold exploration and mining cycle will be made with an opportunity for Q&A. Topics covered
will include orientation surveys for soils, ore grade techniques such as Fire Assay and Photon Assay, as well as microanalysis for gold
deportment for geomet studies.

Where: A bus will depart the Wonil Hotel, Crawley and the Perth CBD for the 30-minute journey to ALS analytical laboratory (Malaga). The bus will return via the CBD, the Wonil Hotel and the UWA venue for Rowena’s short course below.

Mark is exploration geochemist with over 20 years’ experience across disciplines in academia, government, and commercial settings. This includes work with CSIRO and Newcrest amongst others. Mark has also provided consulting services to industry before joining ALS in 2020 as a Senior Geochemist tasked with technical business development.
