Collection of appropriate, consistent, non-contaminated samples is critical to an exploration program but is potentially done “sub optimally”. Given that our predictive capacity to determine cover depth is low, is a surface “soil” a valid sample? Let’s explore what are the key components of a successful sampling campaign.
Mark Arundell
Mark consults as a geologist / geochemist. Currently, most of his work involves integrating geology and geochemistry in the search for copper & gold mineralisation. Mark spends quite a bit of time looking at other people’s geochemical data and is thus passionate about collecting quality samples in the field. Mark worked for RGC (Renison Goldfields Consolidated) for ten years as an Exploration and Mine Geologist. He then worked for North for five years at Northparkes Cu-Au and Cowal Au. This was followed by nine years with Rio Tinto working on copper, iron ore, uranium, nickel, potash, talc, and trona exploration projects. A stint working in the junior sector led to floating two ASX listed companies.
