John has 34 years of experience as a chemist in the resources industry and has worked for many large organisations across Australia, providing technical guidance to both mining and exploration.

A balanced discussion of the technical and practical components of automated mineralogy techniques of the TIMA SEM and ELEMISSION LIBS scanning, data acquisition, theory of spectroscopy, data interpretation, outputs and types of samples than can be analysed relating this to both exploration and geometallurgy.
AXT is the Australian Distributor for traditional and new analytical techniques for the minerals industry. They set up the Automated Mineralogy Incubator in WA with the Tescan TIMA SEM so Automated Mineralogy can be used routinely by both geologists and process metallurgists! They are now working with ELEMISSION, a Canadian company who have pioneered high scanning by LIBS.
LIBS is the newest core scanning technique. The Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy combines high speed scanning to give a combination of outputs in the one analysis:
