Shaun will present a summary of his QUT Honours research project sponsored by an AIG Honours Bursary in 2016. An Investigation of potential source relationships between two intrusive events on Cape Upstart in NE QLD. The talk provides clarity on the geology of the Cape and outlines the dominant intrusive age in light of a 240Mya age disparity between the only dated samples from the Cape. The wider influence of the findings at the Cape are also discussed in terms of the influence on the sedimentological record and footprint of the Whitsunday Large Igneous Province.
