Education is a major focus of AIG activities. Current activities include:
Student membership of AIG is free for undergraduate geoscience students at Australian universities. Students also receive substantial discounts on AIG seminar and short course registrations and free access to AIG publications.
The AIG Bursary program offers bursaries each year to Third Year, Honours and Postgraduate geoscience students. Applications are usually called for in the second quarter of each calendar year through notices distributed directly to geoscience departments throughout Australia, this web site and in AIG News. An application form is available on-line while applications are open each year.
The bursary program is funded both directly by AIG and the generous support of both individuals and organisations.
AIG is an affiliate of Edumine which provides a range of distance learning opportunities for geoscientists, including a wide range of short courses that may be completed on-line and live web casts, where registrants can interact with each other and the presenter. Edumine provides AIG members with a wide range of high quality continued professional development resources that may be accessed from just about anywhere with Internet access at any time. AIG members are entitled to a discount on Edumine enrollment and course fees.
