Overview
Education is a major focus of AIG activities. Current activities include:
- providing continued professional development opportunities for members in the form of conferences, seminars and short courses;
- AIG's student bursary programme, which supports talented honours and postgraduate students; and,
- membership of an Australian Geoscience Council sponsored project to promote the development of curriculum materials and resources for high school science teachers.
Student membership of AIG is free for undergraduate geoscience students at Australian universities. Students also receive substantial discounts on AIG publications, seminar and short course registrations.
AIG is also an affiliate of Edumine which provides a range of distance learning opportunities for geoscientists. AIG members are entitled to a discount on Edumine enrollment and course fees.
